CLASS DIVIDE
Class Divide investigates the microcosm of West Chelsea in New York City, which experienced hyper-gentrification in the wake of the High Line urban renewal project. The film examines growing inequality, both in the neighborhood and also in the world, through the eyes of children. This is the first film I worked on, under Director Marc Levin, Supervising Producer Daphne Pinkerson, and Editor/Co-Producer Ema Ryan Yamazaki. With them, I met the residents of the Chelsea-Elliot housing projects and the students at Avenues: the World School, whose dreams and anxieties were mirrored across the high line’s frame. I contributed original research, as well as broll cinematography.
